A fresh Mafia game is along the way. Series publisher 2K Games and Hanger 13, the studio that done Mafia III and Mafia: Definitive Edition, announced the news headlines in a post celebrating the franchises 20th anniversary.

I’m pleased to confirm we’ve started focus on an all-new Mafia project, said Roman Hladk, Hanger 13 general manager. While it is a couple of years away and we can not share any other thing more at this time, we’re really excited to help keep focusing on this beloved franchise also to entertain our players with new stories.

The studio didn’t share any information on the project. Its latest release was 2020s Mafia: Definitive Edition, a remake of the franchises original 2002 entry. In accordance with a Kotaku report published earlier this season, Hanger 13 went through multiple rounds of layoffs because the studio completed focus on Mafia III in 2016. The newest occurred in-may after 2K reportedly canceled a casino game that Hanger 13 have been working on for some time and that the publisher had funded to the tune of $50 million. That same month, Kotaku published another report revealing that the studio was also focusing on a Mafia prequel occur Italy and built along with Unreal Engine 5. Its unclear if that project may be the game 2K and Hanger 13 announced today.

In order to revisit the series or play it for the very first time, 2K also announced today it would supply the original game away on Steam between September 1st and 5th. You can even buy Definitive Edition for sale until September 8th.
