“Honoured doesnt even commence to describe how exactly we experience winning the Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program,” the show’s official Twitter account posted earlier today.

“Many thanks to your incredible team at Riot Games and Fortiche, the tv screen Academy, and the best fans (yes, you) to make this possible.”

“Many thanks because of this,” said Arcane co-creator Christian Linke if they found the award (thanks, Deadline). “Its a problem for us once we come from video gaming. Its been amazing to start to see the world embrace our characters and our stories so because of Netflix who believed in us right from the start, because of Riot Games, who done the complete IP also to all the some people that have been with this game and League of Legends going back 12 years roughly who helped ensure it is as large as it really is now.”

Arcane: Act 1 launched on Netflix last November, charting the first years of two of League of Legends’ hottest champions, sisters Jinx and Vi, around the rich city of Piltover and the oppressed underground city of Zaun.

As Matt summarised for all of us at that time, the response from critics and League of Legends fans was strong – Eurogamer’s Chris Tapsell called it “absolutely a thrill, filled with welcome colour and life”, despite several reservations – and Riot confirmed another season was in the works mere weeks after season one’s arrival.

It had been little surprise, then, when Netflix also announced a five-part making-of series, too, that is out now.
