Amazon is shutting down its telehealth service

Amazon plans to discontinue its Care telehealth service by the finish of the entire year, reports The Washington Post. The business reportedly told employees of your choice throughout a meeting on Wednesday. It’s expected“dozens” of employees will eventually lose their jobs consequently.

More recently, the business struck a deal to get doctor One Medical for $3.9 billion.

Health Services team,

We have been working on a significant, missionary opportunity. Our vision would be to ensure it is easier for folks to access medical maintenance systems and services they have to get and remain healthy. We realize accomplishing this wont be easy or fast, but we believe it matters.

A great way weve worked towards this vision for days gone by many years has been with this urgent and primary care service offering, Amazon Care. Throughout that time, weve gathered and paid attention to extensive feedback from our enterprise customers and their workers, and evolved the service to continuously enhance the experience for customers. However, despite these efforts, weve determined that Amazon Care isnt the proper long-term solution for the enterprise customers, and also have decided that people won’t offer Amazon Care after December 31, 2022.

This decision wasnt made lightly and only became clear after many months of consideration. Although our enrolled members have loved many areas of Amazon Care, it isn’t a whole enough offering for the large enterprise customers we’ve been targeting, and wasnt likely to work long-term.

Our work building Amazon Care has deepened our knowledge of what’s needed long-term to provide meaningful healthcare solutions for enterprise and individual customers. Youve heard me say it before, but I really believe medical care space is ripe for reinvention, and our efforts to greatly help improve the healthcare experience might have an immensely positive effect on our standard of living and health outcomes. However, none of the reasons get this to decision any easier for the teams which have helped to create Amazon Care, or for the clients our Care team serves.

Our priority at this time is to give you support, whatever the path you take. Many Care employees could have a chance to join other areas of medical Services organization or other teams at Amazon which well be discussing with a lot of you shortly and well also support employees searching for roles outside the company.

To the Amazon Care and Care Medical teams, many thanks for all your effort of these last many years.
