Authorities capture California man accused of killing child whose body was bought at his home half a year ago

Authorities on Saturday arrested a California man accused of killing an 8-year-old girl whose body was within his home half a year ago.

Following a monthslong search and a study relating to the Justice Department’s Special Operations Unit, police arrestedDhante Jackson in Newark, California, regarding the the murder of Sophia Mason. The girl’s body was within Jackson’s Central Valley home in March a couple of days after her relatives reported her missing, state attorney general’s office said in a statement.

The relatives told police that they had not had connection with the lady since December, based on the Associated Press.

That report led local police to arrest Sophia’s mother, Samantha Johnson, on a warrant stemming from the child abuse case the prior year, the AP reported.

Johnson distributed to investigators information on the abuse she said her daughter faced from Jackson, including “having to call home in a shed in Jacksons yard andsufferingsexual and physical abuse,” the news headlines release said.

Jackson and Johnson have been in an enchanting relationship, officials have said.

Court papers show that Merced police with a search warrant found Sophias body in a bathtub in a locked bathroom in Jackson’s home.

Police announced Sunday that Sophia have been dead for at the very least per month, that she have been malnourished and that the Merced County coroner’s office had ruled her death a homicide, the Bay Area News Group reported.

The Merced County district attorneys office charged Johnson with child abuse and homicide and issued a warrant for his arrest in the child’s murder.The district attorney’s office will charge Jackson with homicide, the attorney general’s office said.

Johnson has pleaded not liable, the AP reported.

Alameda County has 45 days to react to the claims, the news headlines group reported Sunday. If the county offers no settlement and the claim is rejected, the household has half a year to sue.
