Boy, around 3, pulled from Lake Michigan near Navy Pier

First responders pulled a boy from Lake Michigans waters at Navy Pier on Monday afternoon, a Fire Department spokesperson said.

The Fire Department was called to rescue the boy around 1: 25 p.m., said Chicago Fire Department spokesperson Larry Merritt.

After first responders took him from the water, paramedics transported the kid to Lurie Childrens Hospital in critical condition, he said.

The boy is just about three years old, Merritt said. His pulse have been detected after he was removed from the water.

What resulted in the boy having to be rescued remains unclear.

Navy Pier released a statement Monday evening: We have been working very closely with the Chicago Police Department because they investigate the incident. Our hearts are with the kid and his family members.

It is a developing story. Check back for more updates.
