Britney Spears’ ex-husband Jason Alexander, 40, was booked into Napa County’s Department of Corrections on Tuesday for allegedly stealing a $2,000 bracelet from an American Canyon home in 2015, the Napa County Sheriff’s Office said.

Alexander faces two felony charges and is set to be arraigned at the Napa County Superior Court on Wednesday at 2: 30 p.m., Henry Wofford, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, told SFGATE. Bail is defined at $20,000.

Alexander was Spears’ first husband. They married in 2004 at the tiny White Wedding Chapel in NEVADA prior to the marriage was annulled 55 hours later.

Alexander was taken to Napa on an arrest warrant for just two felonies linked to the 2015 crime, Wofford said. Alexander allegedly stole the bracelet from the woman he was renting an area from and sold it for $180 at a Vallejo pawnshop.

“There is a female who had an area for rent and a pal recommended to her that Mr. Alexander will be a good tenant and within the initial month of living there, she noticed a $2,000 bracelet was missing,” Wofford said. “At that time, she tried to retrieve it herself.”

Once the woman first asked Alexander whether he stole the bracelet, he allegedly denied it. After he moved out, the girl approached him again and he admitted to taking it and wanted to pay her back, but he didn’t have the funds in those days, Wofford said. The girl visited the pawn shop to obtain her bracelet back, and that is when she reached out to police, he said.

Wofford said Alexander was taken up to Napa from Ventura County, where he previously been serving a sentence for misdemeanor battery and trespassing convictions linked to an incident in June. Alexander broke into Spears’ home, where her wedding to Sam Asghari, her third husband, had been held, People magazine reported.

“By enough time we got involved it had been early 2016,” Wofford said. “After we completed our investigation, the arrest warrant was issued in 2016. He previously already left Napa County and we put a warrant out. Once he finished serving his time linked to the Britney Spears incident, they contacted us asking, ‘Will you transport him to Napa County?’ We got that ask Friday.”
