California Man REPORTED TO BE Cured Of HIV & Leukemia After Stem Cell Treatment

A 66-year-old man identified as having HIV in 1998 is currently cured of the virus and cancer after finding a related stem cell transplant after experiencing leukemia, in accordance with an announcement from the International AIDs conference in Montreal, Canada, ABC reports.

Treated at THE TOWN of Hope, probably the most prominent research organizations in the usa, the patient may be the fourth patient and the oldest with the condition to get into remission without antiretroviral therapy (ART).

The business reports that the individual received a chemotherapy-based regimen prior to the transplant.

Reduced-intensity chemotherapy makes the transplant more tolerable for older patients and reduces the prospect of transplant-related complications from the task, the business said in the release.

Jana K. Dickter, a co-employee clinical professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the town of Hope stated:

We were thrilled to tell him that his HIV is in remission and he no more must take antiretroviral therapy he have been on for over 30 years, Jana K. Dickter, a co-employee clinical professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at City of Hope.

Based on the City of Hope, the individual hasnt shown any sign of HIV replication.

Though doctors say this treatment was successful, it isnt pratical for everybody.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, stated:

It isn’t practical to believe that is something thats likely to be accessible, Fauci said. Its more of a proof concept.
