A huge selection of people participated in a parade through Torontos Chinatown on Aug. 6 to celebrate the milestone of 400 million Chinese people having renounced their ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its own affiliated organizations.
SanTui, a Chinese phrase meaning Three Withdrawals, was seen emblazoned on banners as Falun Gong adherents and supporters marked the occasion in Toronto. Similar parades were held in Montreal and Calgary.
The Three Withdrawals, which identifies withdrawing from the CCP, the Communist Youth League, and the China Young Pioneers, aims to provide the Chinese people a method to disassociate themselves from the CCP, which includes long history of killing and deceit.
The movement began in 2004, sparked by the release of The Epoch Times book Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, which details the annals of the CCP and their crimes contrary to the Chinese people.
On Aug. 3, the date the 400 million milestone was reached, Rong Yi, president of the U.S.-based Global Service Center for Quitting the Chinese Communist Party, commended the 400 million brave Chinese who severed their ties to the communist regime.
The Three Withdrawals may be the largest grassroots movement in Chinese history. The reality it exposes helps awakened thousands of Chinese people, Yi said at a press conference in Flushing, NEW YORK.
Around 80 million Chinese folks have died of unnatural causes because of the CCPs various political campaigns because it took power in 1949, Yi said. The newer campaigns she pointed to add Tiananmen Square in 1989, the ongoing persecution of adherents of the spiritual practice Falun Gong, the imprisonment of an incredible number of ethnic minorities in Xinjiang and Tibet, and the crackdown on democracy in Hong Kong.
The most crucial mission for mankind may be the disintegration of the CCP, she said. Only by ending the tyranny of the CCP can the Chinese people embrace freedom, peace, and prosperity.
More events will undoubtedly be held in Canada through the entire month of August, including over 100 car parades that may happen in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver.
A spokesperson at the Toronto event told The Epoch Times that the amount of people disassociating themselves from the CCP andits affiliated organizations is growing by around 50,000 to 70,000 each day.
Mina Comtreras and her husband Wadelfoxelo, that are visiting Toronto from Pennsylvania to celebrate their loved-one’s birthday, stopped to view the parade.[We learned] virtually what the planet knows that China is really a communist country and lots of things need to change, Mina said.
Its really sad, she added, upon hearing concerning the CCPs persecution campaigns contrary to the Chinese people.
Survivor of CCP Persecution
Cathy Lin, a university teacher from Chinas Shandong Province now surviving in Toronto, said the Chinese folks are victims of the CCPs propaganda campaigns, and the Three Withdrawals movement gives them an opportunity to have a step back and discern for themselves.
Lin joined the a large number of students who gathered on Tiananmen Square in Beijing in June 1989 to demand democracy. She didnt witness the brutal massacre of the students, however, and says state propaganda led her to doubt there have been any killings.
I was raised consuming CCPs propaganda, and I had a blind faith in the Party, she told The Epoch Times.
When I heard that the military opened fire on the students, I remained skeptical, because my dad was also military personnel. [I thought], how could the military open fire on the students? That has been news that people didnt get access to.
In 1995, Lin began practicing Falun Gong, referred to as Falun Dafa, a normal Chinese practice which involves meditative exercises and moral teachings in line with the tenets of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. Made public in 1992, the practice had 70 million to 100 million adherents in China by the late 1990s. Such popularity was perceived by the CCP as a threat to its authoritarian rule, and on July 20, 1999, the regime launched a far-reaching persecution campaign targeted at eradicating Falun Gong.
In October 2000, Lin was arrested when she visited Beijings National Petition Bureau to urge the federal government to get rid of its persecution campaign and invite Falun Gong adherents to practise freely. She was sentenced to 3 years in prison in the next year. Her husband was also jailed many times.
During those times, my kids would discover that their parents were gone suddenly. Their grandparents took care of these, however they dared not ask where father and mother were, since they didnt desire to make their grandparents sad, Lin said.
The CCPs persecution of Falun Gong finally made me realize its evil nature, she added. And in the end weve been through, my family are actually supportive of the movement to give up the CCP.
Lin fled to Canada in 2013. She said the Three Withdrawals movement can be very important to Chinese people surviving in Canada.
The reason why that people tirelessly clarify the reality to the Chinese people would be to give those kind people, that are with the capacity of critical thinking, an opportunity to disassociate from the CCP, she said.
The [movements] greatest purpose would be to allow more folks all over the world understand the evil nature of the regime, and tell them that the regime is destroying the culture and corrupting the morality of the complete human society.
