Chuck D And Kurtis Blow Form The HIPHOP Alliance, Raps First OfficialUnion

Rap icons Chuck D, Kurtis Blow, and much more have banded together to spearhead The HIPHOP Alliance, that is billed because the first-ever union in the cultures history.

Founded by Chuck D, Kurtis Blow, and Doug E. Fresh, The HIPHOP Alliance is referred to as a non-profit organization whose mission would be to fight for fair wages, fair royalties, strong health insurance and retirement benefits for artists in the HIPHOP and R&B community.

With Chuck D and Kurtis Blow serving as president and vice president, respectively, Doug E. Fresh may be the organizations vice chairman, with KRS-One as chairman. Other rap legends on the unions advisory board include Slick Rick, Willie D, DJ Scratch, DJ Hollywood, DJ Cassidy, Davy DMX, GrandWizzard Theodore, and Alonzo Williams, amongst others.

On Wednesday (July 27), KRS-One posted a visual on his Instagram of him introducing The HIPHOP Alliance to the general public and organized its mission by means of a freestyle.

Raise your voice to those that work behind the scenes to create HIPHOP Happen, the Blastmaster wrote in the posts caption. Managers, Artists, Agents, Engineers and Producers, what’s the retirement plan, healthcare plan, and fare commission standards for all of us? Exactly what is a fare wage for what we do within hip-hop being an industry? The ones that drive and assist artists, the ones that protect artists, the ones that promote the show, and the ones that sell merchandise, among other roles and responsibilities that produce hiphop happen; Who speaks for all of us? What brings dignity and respect to the task that people do? Answer. The HIPHOP Alliance! With the data, the skill, and the energy of our collective voice, there is absolutely no reason why we can not protect ourselves and our future!

With cameos from Slick Rick and Big Daddy Kane, KRS kicks rhymes concerning the HIPHOP Alliances quest for workers rights, labor rights, royalties, and also the dependence on the culture ahead together as you to fight the heartless music industry.
