Cody Garbrandt pulled from UFC Vegas 61 because of injury

Cody Garbrandt must wait until in the future to create his go back to action.

The ex-UFC bantamweight champion has been pulled from the upcoming UFC Vegas 61 card on Oct. 1 because of a personal injury suffered in training. UFC officials confirmed the news headlines on Tuesday following a short report from ESPN.

Garbrandts removal from the card comes just days after he lost his originally scheduled opponent when Rani Yahya was also forced to grab because of neck injury.

While a search was designed to potentially look for a replacement, Garbrandts injury prevented a fresh fight from coming together, and the UFC is currently looking at another date for his return once hes healthy.

This can be a second time Garbrandt vs. Yahya has been scrapped and rescheduled.

The original matchup was booked for UFC Vegas 58 in July, but Yahyas neck injury forced that date to be abandoned with the fight then rescheduled for Oct. 1. Now, that date in addition has fallen by the wayside with both fighters coping with injuries.

The upcoming UFC Vegas 61 card is headlined by strawweights Mackenzie Dern and Yan Xiaonan in the primary event having an official bout order for the rest of the show still to be determined.
