Comic-Con wouldnt be Comic-Con without cosplay.
Just as much part of the function as Hall H panels and comics themselves, getting decked out in elaborate costumesor considering people decked out in elaborate costumesis one of many reasons people attend. This season, cosplay felt a lot more crucial. Because of health concerns on the spread of Covid-19, there hasnt been an in-person Comic-Con for days gone by 2 yrs. Last weekend, once the event once more filled the streets of NORTH PARK, the cosplayers returned too.
However, not without some, um, modifications. Because Comic-Con held an IRL event this season doesnt mean Covid is overfar from itso people had to take precautions to remain safe, namely by wearing masks. Now, cosplayers are accustomed to wearing masks, however the kinds necessary to stop the spread of infectious disease arent necessarily the type that Spider-Man wears. So, as can be expected, fans got creative.
WIRED asked photographer Daniel Gonalves to wait last weeks convention to check out cosplayers with a few of the most creative masks around. He found some very nice onesand several that didnt have masks at all.
