Dionne Warwick Responds After U.S. Open Television Announcers Mistake Her For Gladys Knight

The U.S. Open has been attracting many celebrities because they watch Serena Williams compete, in what’s to be her last tennis tournament. However, there’s been lots of action occurring in the stands, in addition to on the tennis court.

Wednesday night, legendary singer Dionne Warwick was spotted in the crowd during Serenas match. However, it announcers that narrated through the match mistook her for another legendary singerGladys Knight.

In accordance with TMZ, the announcers which were in charge of the mix-up were Mary CarilloandChanda Rubin.

On Thursday, Dionne had just a little fun with her reaction to the problem, as she used the song titles of Gladys classic hit Mignight Train to Georgia, and her classic hits Walk On By, and the as Aretha Franklins I Say JUST A LITTLE Prayer.

Dionne tweeted, Hi, Im Gladys Knight and rather than taking that midnight train to Georgia, I wont walk on by but will say just a little prayer for you personally.

In a statement to TMZ, reps for Gladys Knight released a statement as she said,

Dionne and I have already been sisters for a long period and I am hoping she actually is as honored to be recognised incorrectly as me when i will be her. Im sure it had been a genuine mistake. It had been a blessing to stay the home to see Serenas greatness.

This isnt the very first time a mistaken identity has happened because the U.S. Open has began.

As previously reported, earlier this week, some fans thought actress Laverne Cox was Beyonc as she cheered for Serena Williams within the audience.
