Scientists published a paper in The Lancet medical journal the other day that showed proof human-to-dog transmission. It had been unclear if the herpes virus could spread to dogs.

They began showing outward indications of the virus a couple of days after sleeping with other sexual partners.
Twelve days once they showed signs, their four-year-old Greyhound tested positive for the herpes virus.
The scientists also express more investigation into transmitting the herpes virus to pets.
