Donald Trump and the Dept. of Justice could be playing a nuclear game of chicken, because Trump has just taken the Justice Dept’s offer to advocate for the release of the Mar-a-Lago search warrant … this following a Washington Post report that a few of the documents secreted at the Florida estate contained information linked to nuclear weapons.
Trump said late Thursday … he wouldn’t object to the release of the warrant. As you almost certainly know, Attorney General Merrick Garland announced Thursday he’d get back to court and have the judge who signed the sealed warrant to create it public, citing, among other activities, intense public interest.
Trump said on his social media marketing Thursday, “Not merely am i going to not oppose the release of documents linked to the un American, unwarranted, and unnecessary raid and break-in of my home in Palm Beach, Florida, Mar-a-Lago, I’m going a step further by ENCOURAGING the immediate release of these documents.”
Considering that both parties are actually on board, it could seem likely the judge would unseal the warrant.
Garland was under great pressure release a the docs after Republicans questioned the legitimacy of the raid, suggesting it had been more political than legal. The A.G. took the highly unusual step Thursday to demand the release of the warrant, but even though that happens it could not fully answer the questions. It’s unclear if the judge may also release the affidavit mounted on the warrant would establish probable cause a crime was committed. That information could complete the blanks.
Having said that, the search warrant should at the very least mention the scope of the search and the documents which are being sought. All eyes will undoubtedly be on a mention of documents linked to nuclear weapons if that indeed was section of the raid.
You can find reports the documents put into the incorrect harm could create “grave” danger to the U.S.
If true — that Trump had such documents — the question is excatly why?
