Doug Pederson provides update on LB Devin Lloyd following go back to practice

Following a slow begin to his preseason because of injury, Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Devin Lloyd returned to apply on Thursday in Atlanta. With the intention of starting in the teams Week 1 tilt contrary to the Washington Commanders, Lloyd is behind schedule in his recovery from the lingering hamstring issue.

Head coach Doug Pederson gave an update on Lloyds timetable for return in his comments to the media on Thursday, explaining that the rookie is shaking off some rust after missing weeks of valuable learning experience on the field.

It had been good to see him on the market, Pederson said of Lloyds participation on Thursday. As weve talked, weve tried to improve his reps every day, and hopefully hell get yourself a few more today. Ill say this, you can observe the nerves and the jitterbugs going swimming in him a bit on the market, but he settled in and had a good practice. Good to see him back on the market.

It really is unclear if Lloyd is on the right track to start out in Week 1 against Washington, but from the sound of Pedersons comments on Thursday, it could seem he is trending toward creating a difference in games soon. Because the Jaguars second first-round pick in the 2022 draft, expectations are high for the former Utah linebacker, who was simply earned to compete for a starting role on Jacksonvilles top-tier defense.

Hamstring injuries just like the one Lloyd happens to be coping with are hard to take care of since they occur in the muscle and will be easily aggravated in case a player is rushed back to action prematurely. The Jaguars will probably play his status by ear in the coming weeks in order to extend the quantity of time the guy can start to see the field without suffering the consequences of the painful injury this year.
