Firefighters taken care of immediately a big structure fire at Alameda Point on Monday afternoon.

The fire broke out at 3: 15 p.m. in a commercial building on the 600 block of West Ranger Avenue, Capt. Dave Port, an Alameda Fire Department spokesperson, said.

Port cannot give a specific address for the fire, but he said the fire didn’t occur at the Alameda Food Bank.

Port said when firefighters first arrived on scene, they entered the building but were later forced to vacate.

“In line with the deterioration of the building and the progression of the fire, firefighters withdrew and visited a defensive strategy,” Port said.
