Ganassi files civil action lawsuit against its champion Palou

In a statement from the legendary team, for whom Palou scored a 14th IndyCar drivers title this past year, Ganassi stated: Alex Palou is under contract with Chip Ganassi Racing through the finish of the 2023 season. He could be a valued person in our team, and we’ll continue steadily to support him in chasing wins, podiums, and INDYCAR championships.

Because the consequence of a competing racing team improperly wanting to contract with him notwithstanding the clear terms of our contract, we have been proceeding to legal process pursuant to the contract.

Every inquiries on the problem will undoubtedly be handled by our lawyer.

The summons, filed by Marion County Court, is directed to Alex Palou Montalbo and ALPA Racing USA, LLC, and should be taken care of immediately with 20 days after receiving the summons on July 26.

Furthermore, in another court document, plaintiff Chip Ganassi Racing, LLC, by counsel, respectfully requests a prompt hearing on its Motion for Preliminary Injunction. Plaintiff estimates two hours will be sufficient for the hearing, and requests that it be set prior to the end of August.

On the list of evidential exhibits in the general public domain will be the tweets delivered by Palou, by McLaren Racing and the news release from McLaren, all on July 12.

That day Chip Ganassi Racing released a release stating that it had adopted its option on Palous services for 2023, the driver having signed a two-year-plus-one-year-option contract toward the finish of his rookie season with Dale Coyne Racing.

The statement contained a quote from team owner Chip Ganassi, stating: Alexs background speaks for itself. Hes a successful champion and something of the very most formidable drivers on the planet. We have been very excited to keep working together.

However, in addition, it contained a quote supposedly from Palou.

Its an excellent feeling knowing Ill be back with Chip Ganassi Racing next season. The team welcomed me with open arms from Day 1, and Im excited to keep dealing with Chip, [CGR managing director] Mike Hull, the people on the #10 NTT DATA Honda and everyone within the business. The goals remain exactly the same and we’ll continue steadily to work relentlessly towards achieving them.

Later that day, Palou hit Twitter, stating: I’ve recently learned from the media that afternoon, without my approval, Chip Ganassi Racing issued a news release announcing that I’d be driving with CGR in 2023. A lot more surprising was that CGRs release included a quote which didn’t result from me.

I did so not approve that news release, and I did so not author or approve that quote. WHEN I have recently informed CGR, for personal reasons, I really do not plan to continue with the team after 2022.

This evenings unfortunate events aside, I’ve great respect for the CGR team, and appearance forward to finishing this year strongly together.

Within a few minutes, further fuel was put into the flames when McLaren tweeted: Hola Alex! McLaren Racing welcomes#INDYCARchampion@AlexPalouto its driver roster from 2023, because the team continues to create talent across most of its racing series. Our full driver line-up across all racing series will undoubtedly be confirmed in due course.

The Arrow McLaren SP twitter account quoted that tweet, adding Welcome to the McLaren Racing family, Alex Palou.

A McLaren Racing news release stated: “Alongside his racing duties next year, Palou may also test with the McLaren F1 Team within its 2021 MCL35M F1 car testing program with fellow drivers Pato OWard and Colton Herta.”

Palou said: Im extremely excited to become listed on the driver roster for this iconic team as McLaren. Im excited to have the ability to show what I could do when driving of a Formula 1 car and considering what doors that could open.

“I wish to thank everyone at Chip Ganassi Racing for everything they will have done for me personally.

Zak Brown, McLaren CEO commented:We’ve always said that people want the very best talent at McLaren, and its own exciting in order to include Alex on that list. Im also looking towards seeing him get when driving of a Formula 1 car within our Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) program alongside Pato OWard and Colton Herta once we continue steadily to build our driver talent.

“Alex can be an incredibly talented driver who has won atlanta divorce attorneys series he’s got raced in, and Im pleased to welcome him to the McLaren family.

Palou currently lies sixth in the championship, just 44 points behind championship-leading teammate Marcus Ericsson with five rounds to go and over 250 points still available.

Arrow McLaren SP, that is expanding to three cars in 2023, currently has incumbent Pato OWard and Alexander Rossi under contract for next year. Felix Rosenqvist has been retained by McLaren Racing, but he’s got told he could be in limbo regarding where series hell race.

McLaren CEO Brown told that the marque will never be commenting on the lawsuit, while Palou himself have not yet responded on the problem.
