Grammy award-winning gospel artist Israel Houghton and his wife, former THE TRUE co-host Adrienne Bailon Houghton, welcomed their first child on Tuesday via surrogate after nearly six years of infertility.
“Our baby boy is here now & we have been so in love! In case you have followed our love story you understand our journey to baby has been very challenging But God holds true to His word and His promises. We’ve quietly prayed while sitting with this most magnificent secret going back 9 months,” Bailon Houghton wrote on Instagram.
In accordance with CBN News, the couple welcomed their son, Ever James, on Wednesday.
“He could be worth every tear, every disappointment, every delayed prayer, every IVF cycle, every miscarriage. Everything. All we feel is joy and overwhelming love & gratitude,” she continued. “Grateful to God, to your angel surrogate also to our family and friends who’ve stood around for over five years with this journey. He’s here, and we’ve never been happier to reduce sleep!”
The Houghtons, who’ve been married since 2016, decided to start a family group in 2018. Meanwhile, Israel Houghton already has four children from past relationships.
Through the airing of a 2018 bout of THE TRUE, Bailon Houghton exposed about her struggles with infertility.
“I believe that being an audience, we have to be sensitive to the truth that everybody doesn’t have a baby immediately,” Bailon Houghton said at that time. “I believe for myself, I thought it could happen so easily for me personally, also it just hasn’t happened this way.”
“I’ve had to come quickly to peace with that it’ll happen if it is God’s timing, and I really believe for the reason that, and I’ve faith in every of this,” she said. “Nonetheless it could be really discouraging, also it could be really frustrating.”
