The hype before Kansas City Chiefs rookie RB Isiah Pachecos preseason debut reached unparalleled heights.
Well, fans didnt need to wait long to see Pacheco doing his thing. After just six offensive snaps, the rookie found himself in the overall game getting his first carry and working alongside Patrick Mahomes. His first carry was only a two-yard run up the gut, but his offensive line didnt get much push on the play.
Later that drive, Pacheco would get his second opportunity, catching a distribute of the backfield and breaking a tackle for a five-yard scamper. That play would setup a five-yard touchdown pass to tight end Blake Bell.
Pacheco would continue steadily to get snaps with the second-team offense following the starters visited the bench, carrying the ball once again for four yards. He also had a 34-yard kick return in the 3rd quarter.
Talking with reporters following the game, Chiefs HC Andy Reid was elated using what he saw from the rookie.
I thought he ran hard and played fast, Reid said of Pacheco. He didnt appear to be he shied down from anything. Pretty accurate with things that he did, therefore i thought he did a good job. He could be among the young guys that I was happy had to be able to play.
Pachecos usage in preseason Week 1 indicate that the team has some very big plans for the rookie this year. While he didnt have probably the most productive day, he surely had some flashes which should excite fans about what to come in the near future.
