Heres why Thor: Love and Thunder didnt develop a major Endgame plot hole

Thor: Love and Thunder has already been a significant financial success for Disney, having made $700 million globally because the July 8th premiere. And thats without China and Russia, where in fact the film is not released. However the story isnt perfect, and weve already highlighted the big expected Avengers plot hole. Some also have theorized that Love and Thunder creates a significant plot hole for Endgame, the largest Avengers movie up to now.

But were likely to explain why thats false. Thor 4 doesnt ruin the Endgame plot, and thats because Marvel gave Avengers 4 the perfect plot armor there’s. Not just that, however the MCU in addition has set in place a turn of events that further strengthens the Endgame plot. Beware, MCU spoilers will observe.

Love and Thunders big Eternity reveal

The plot of Love and Thunder is fairly simple. We’ve a villain, Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who would like to kill all the universes gods. Instead of fight every one of them one at a time, he really wants to get his practical Stormbreaker. Thats the weapon that Thor (Chris Hemsworth) created in Infinity War to fight Thanos (Josh Brolin).

Gorr wants Stormbreaker so he is able to reach Eternity, the powerful coming to the biggest market of the universe who’ll grant any desire to the first person who reaches it. Gorr eventually ends up reaching Eternity, but Thor manages to convince him never to ask for the most obvious desire, the death of most gods in the universe. Instead, Gorrs wish becomes something entirely different. He requests his daughter to be resurrected.

So how exactly does that induce a plot hole for Endgame? Marvel fans have started wondering why Thor didnt just visit Eternity himself by the end of Infinity War to require Thanoss step to be undone Or why Thanos didnt head to Eternity himself to purge 1 / 2 of the universes living beings.

The Love and Thunder plot does appear to develop a big plot hole for Endgame, but we are able to explain everything away.

Thor and Thanos have no idea everything

The easiest way to debunk this Endgame plot hole would be to consider the timeline and understand that these superheroes and villains have no idea each and every detail of the universe.

First, Thor only requires a alternative to Mjolnir when he makes Stormbreaker. Thats what the weapon is. Its not just a doorway to Eternity, though it works as you on Love and Thunder. And Thor only realizes in Love and Thunder what Gorr intends to accomplish when Zeus (Russell Crowe) tells everyone that Gorr won’t reach Eternity.

Therefore, Thor couldnt have known what he previously on his hands following the Infinity War disaster. He used Stormbreaker to kill Thanos, and the hammer became a glorious bottle opener.

Secondly, when Thor creates Stormbreaker, Thanos has already been along the way of conquering all of the Infinity Stones. Its not clear if he knew of Eternity at that time. But he couldnt have known that Stormbreaker was the main element to getting there.

The true reason Love and Thunder doesnt develop a big Endgame plot hole

But we dont have even to analyze what of Thor and Thanos and speculate on which they do and dont know. The key reason why Love and Thunder doesnt develop a big plot hole for Endgame is in fact very easy. Avengers 4 gets the greatest plot armor of most Marvel movies.

Marvel arrange it completely back Infinity War, fully realizing that it must ensure no future events can ruin the Endgame plot. When Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) tells the Avengers on Titan that theres only 1 solution to beat Thanos, he means the chain of events we find yourself witnessing in Endgame.

He saw a lot more than 14 million versions into the future. Thor may have used Eternity in a few of them to create everybody else back. But that wouldnt have already been the win Strange wanted.

Similarly, a lot of memes arrived after NO CHANCE Home, pointing out that Strange may have made Thanos forget he wished to wipe 1 / 2 of the universes living beings out of existence. But, again, that wouldnt have already been a successful solution to win, per Infinity Wars plot armor.

Its all Kang, baby!

We explained recently that the Avengers make an impression on Thanos was carefully orchestrated by Kang (Jonathan Majors). He had a need to make sure that events happen in a specific order in the Sacred Timeline. That meant Thanos won the original battles in Infinity War. Also it meant the planet had to endure five years of incredible pain before Avengers saved your day.

Kang wanted these events to occur in this order. He needed the planet to build up to a location where in fact the 31st century version of himself could possibly be born. He needs the worlds massive diversity to access that point. And you also cant risk having Thanos get rid of among your ancestors.

Similarly, he needed the planet to build up technology he’d later use and improve to visit through time. And Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) arises with the initial successful time/multiverse travel device in the five years between Infinity War and Endgame. Had Thor used Stormbreaker to attain Eternity, Tony Stark may have never develop time travel.

That is just speculation, needless to say, but its in line with the events happening in the MCU Phase 4 up to now. With all that at heart, the Love and Thunder story will not create any significant plot hole for Endgame.

However, were certainly curious as to the reasons Eternity will grant only 1 wish. Or why the unannounced Avengers 7 is named Eternity Wars.
