How come Poland demanding compensation from Germany?

From: Inside Story

The German government says the problem of World War II reparations is closed.

Poland says it’ll demand $1.3 trillion from Germany for crimes committed through the second world war.

The move follows the release of a written report on the expense of the Nazi occupation of Poland from 1939 to 1945.

Polands right-wing government says the united states is not fully compensated.

But Germany insists compensation was paid in the years that followed the war and the problem of reparations is currently closed.

So, what’s behind Polands move? Is politics involved?
