Rodriguez is living around his expected potential. This year, hes hitting .271/.328/.475 for an OPS of .803. His potential showed early in the minors, which helped him move quickly up the farm system. He were only available in the rookie league in 2018, then played Single-A and High-A in 2019. In 2021, he played High-A and Double-A. He made his majors debut this year.
Hes already hit 20 home runs in the majors, and hes showing no signs of slowing.
Mariners rookie Julio Rodriguez will probably only progress as time passes
Rodriguez, nicknamed J-Rod, easily stood out above most prospects. In accordance with MLB.com, he was MLB Pipelines No. 3 Prospect at one point.
If hes anything like Mike Trout, which he appears to be up to now, hes yet going to his peak. Trout hit .220/.281/.390 for an OPS of .671 in his first season. By his second season, he hit .326/.399/.564 for an OPS of .963. Hes currently in his 12th season and hes yet to decelerate.
J-Rod has as much potential. If he continues on the road hes on, hes more likely to become among the bests in MLB.
