Kenny Pickett Might Spend Rookie Season Inactive

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers named Mitch Trubisky their starting quarterback, that was expected by many. But their backup is Mason Rudolph, no one expected him to beat out Kenny Pickett.

Through the final three weeks of the summertime, Pickett took an obvious lead in second-tea snaps over Rudolph. He used the twos in the ultimate two preseason games and didn’t have a third-string snap at practice because the first preseason game.

But, the Steelers decided Rudolph will be their backup, and for that reason, it’s likely that Pickett doesn’t even get yourself a helmet during gameday to start out the growing season.

Pittsburgh typically carries three quarterbacks somewhere on the roster, whether that’s two on the 53 and something on the practice squad or three on the active roster. They only keep two active on gameday, though, and when Rudolph may be the No. 2, Pickett isn’t suiting up.

So, the Steelers’ emergency situation is Rudolph stepping set for Trubisky throughout a game. In case a change must be made mid-week, Pickett comes with an possibility to step in to the role. Anything urgent, however, will undoubtedly be Rudolph.

The first-round pick appears like he’ll spend the growing season inactive. A weird situation following the way the Steelers treated their quarterback battle in the ultimate weeks. That they had an idea all along, though, and apparently, that is it.
