Kevin Harvick: “There is nothing much better than winning”

There were no insufficient declarations that the very best days of Harvicks Cup Series career were over while he was amassing a 65-race winless streak during the last 2 yrs.

Yet in the span of eight days, Harvick did what he’s got countless times before emphatically proved his doubters wrong and loved every minute of it.

Not merely did Harvick end his winless streak and be eligible for the playoffs along with his victory last weekend at Michigan, but on Sunday he added another at Richmond once and for all measure.

Sundays win may be the 60th of his career making him among just 10 drivers in series history going to that mark.

Talk of retirement has suddenly considered another career Cup title for the native of Bakersfield, Calif.

Most of the guys that I was raised racing with, theyre all retired and doing other activities, but I reach still see them, Harvick said. Its those quiet high-fives which are lots of fun and sort of keep it in perspective for me personally mainly because that youre older and said to be done and sort of headed down a path that’s toward the finish.

Ive always prided myself in attempting to compete and do what must be done to compete and make the sacrifices that it requires to compete. But I really do appreciate it. Theres nothing much better than winning. Thats what we do.

I dont understand how to really put everything into perspective because its not something that I simply stop and really ever look at. I hardly ever really stop and say, Where are those 60 wins?

You will have the required time for Harvick to reminisce, particularly as he could be a lock as a first-ballot Hall of Famer when he does stop racing.

But why look back now once you still have a lot of opportunities ahead to win? Its difficult to think about a lifetime career when youre still along the way of adding milestones.

You can try all that stuff when its over, and when you gave everything you’d, hopefully you will be successful, Harvick said. We’ve several some people that have a lot in keeping on we, virtually identical in age, many of them have kids, and for reasons uknown, which has all meshed.

Its just this constant communication and we dont ever discuss how cool it had been two wins ago. Well discuss how great it had been to win this week and itll be, Fine, see you Wednesday.

Maybe sometimes I have to just stop and sort of go on it all in, but I have no idea, I always feel just like its bragging once you stop and discuss yourself. The perspective of what has happened is actually not at all something that I stop and say, That has been pretty cool.

I thought it had been cool that I possibly could put my litttle lady in the automobile the other day and we’re able to do things like that. Those will be the things that I believe are neat at this time.
