You can find members of the LA Lakers front office that might be thinking about exploring trade choices for Anthony Davis, in accordance with’s Sean Deveney, and something Western Conference executive believes the Chicago Bulls is actually a potential mate.

The executive told Deveney, via’s Austin Boyd:

The primary way it could happen if it had been likely to happen was to obtain Davis somewhere he really wants to go, and the primary place hed desire to go is Chicago, where hes from. Now, some guys usually do not desire to play within their hometown but I believe AD would welcome that, he spoke on that before. Doesnt mean it could happen, they will have not gone out and tried to trade him, but there may be something simple like Zach LaVine for AD, you obtain a set of guys likely to places they actually want to be. It could need to wait until January but that might be the deal which makes probably the most sense if AD will change teams.

An NBA executive recently told Deveney that the Lakers could explore trade choices for Davis later on, particularly after LeBron James departs the franchise:

Plenty of that depends upon where LeBron winds up. If he stays in LA and he stays a Laker, he previously a whole lot personally committed to AD being there, so, yes, if so, Davis stays. Nonetheless it isn’t a sure thing. There are several for the reason that organization who not mind seeing what they are able to recreate for AD, however they would not take action with LeBron there. You can 2024, though, and perhaps things change.

“The Lakers have AD for just two more years for certain, and they can only just hope he stays healthy. But from then on, they need to think, is he really our future? He cant stick to the ground. And he’s got to believe, do I wish to be here without LeBron? Thats why the Lakers usually do not want to quit those future picks.”

Once the Lakers acquired Davis from the brand new Orleans Pelicans in July 2019, the expectation was he will be their leader once the James era found a detailed. However, the 29-year-old has struggled to remain healthy since joining the Purple and Gold, which includes been an underlying cause for concern.

Probably the most Davis has played in a normal season for the Lakers came when he suited up in 62 games during his first season with the franchise in 2019-20. Since that time, he’s got played just 76 games during the last two seasons and contains been hampered by injuries.

Davis is under contract with the Lakers through at the very least the 2023-24 season. He’s got a new player option worth $43.2 million in 2024-25, per Spotrac, and it’s really reasonable to trust he’ll opt out searching for a fresh deal.

If the Lakers know he could be likely to opt out, they might always turn to trade him through the upcoming season or the 2023-24 campaign to get something in exchange. That is where a potential Davis-LaVine swap could can be found in.

LaVine is an excellent player and would undoubtedly help the Purple and Gold within their search for another title. Actually, an NBA executive revealed to Deveney in June that LaVine “really wants to be considered a Laker” and that it is “not just a secret”:

“However the roster just won’t enable it. The Bulls have a soft spot for Anthony Davis, he could be a Chicago guy, that rises to the ownership. If the Lakers put a swap of AD and LaVine up for grabs, sure, the Bulls need to look at that.

But LaVine, everything points to him heading back and signing on with Chicago, getting paid. Give it per year or so and when things dont excersice forward with the Bulls, then you might start having him pushing for a Lakers trade. The Lakers will undoubtedly be from Westbrooks contract, they have more flexibility.

However, LaVine just put pen to paper on a five-year, $215 million max extension with the Bulls, therefore the Lakers would need to be ready to undertake his hefty contract in a potential swap.

The 27-year-old will be a solid easily fit into L.A. and would fill a substantial dependence on a franchise that’s desperately looking for perimeter shooting. LaVine has shot 38.6 percent from deep over his eight-year career and is coming off an extraordinary 2021-22 season where he averaged 24.4 points per game and 38.9 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

At this time, though, a Davis-LaVine swap will most likely not happen anytime soon. However, if the Bulls and Lakers struggle through the 2022-23 season, maybe both sides will take part in discussions.
