The Detroit Lions finished in last invest the NFC North in each one of the last four seasons.

Dan Campbell is preparing to change that, even though this means shaking the dirt out of his pants.

It wouldn’t have already been an bout of Hard Knocks with the Lions if the top coach didn’t take center stage, and his electrifying speech following a preseason loss to the Atlanta Falcons set the tone for Tuesday’s show, which also included joint practice with the Indianapolis Colts before their preseason contest.

Campbell’s histrionics and energy once more caught the eye of social media marketing:

“This last little bit of losing must get outta here.”

Tuesday’s episode wasn’t about the top coach, as undrafted rookies Obinna Eze and Kalil Pimpleton earned some shine. Whether it had been Eze’s backstory about finding his way in football despite the fact that he wasn’t acquainted with the activity when he found america from his home country of Nigeria or Pimpleton’s juggling skills, they both had their moments.

Whether those moments will eventually result in an area on the roster remains to be observed, and anyone acquainted with Hard Knocks knows becoming too mounted on those on the roster bubble will often bring about disappointment.

Kalil Pimpleton was that dude at Central Michigan. I cant believe he didnt get drafted. #HardKnocks

Jeffrey Wright @JWright929espn

This will not feel great for Eze. I’ve seen this story before.

Graham @graham__weaver

There’s your Hard Knocks bubble guy longing for the very best for Obinna Eze, gonna be considered a tough road to attempt to make the roster.

Everything built toward Detroit’s time with the Colts, and few moments stood out a lot more than running backs coach Duce Staley losing his voice amid the intensity:

16 Days Till NFL Football @BostonConnr

Cant tell if we are in need of Duce Staley to obtain his voice back or not, sounds electric in any event

Duce Staley at this time

Gabe Kuhn @G_Kuhn71

I’ve no idea the way the Lions RBs kept a straight face when Duce Staley was providing them with a lost-voice ass chewing.

Thats real self control there.

Brad Galli @BradGalli

Duce Staley lost his voice but still chewed out the Lions running backs. #HardKnocks

Fortunately for the Lions, the effort in the joint practice paid. They bounced back from losing to the Falcons with a 27-26 victory on the Colts to find yourself in the win column with the growing season approaching.

Godwin Igwebuike’s touchdown run in the fourth quarter put the Lions ahead, and the defense stopped a two-point conversion by the end to preserve the win.

The backup quarterback race was also an integral storyline in the overall game since Jared Goff didn’t play. Tim Boyle went 12-of-15 for 99 yards, one touchdown and something interception, while David Blough went 16-of-22 for 76 yards, one touchdown and something pick as he put his fumble contrary to the Falcons behind him.

Throw in Pimpleton and Eze making plays, and there is plenty for Lions fans to feel great about with the ultimate preseason game contrary to the Pittsburgh Steelers looming. That contest will certainly be spotlighted next Tuesday when Hard Knocks returns to HBO and HBO Max at 10 p.m. ET.
