Logano: Darlington a “missed opportunity” despite strong result

In a race where many playoff drivers encountered misfortune, Logano did well in order to avoid trouble.

He needless to say still had his moments, including door-to-door connection with Christopher Bell exiting Turn 2. But overall, it had been an excellent day for the No. 22 Team Penske Ford.

Its a good day but a missed opportunity is most likely where I’d put it,” said Logano, who won at Darlington earlier this season. “With so numerous others having trouble, each and every time you arrived at the Southern 500, especially in the playoffs, youve just surely got to survive and you also get yourself a solid finish. Thats what we could actually do, finish fourth after so many teams had issues.

However, Logano had not been without their own setbacks, losing track position on multiple occasions through the grueling 500-mile event.

“We’d plenty of our very own issues, too,” he added. “We quit track position a couple of times and we got caught with that caution and lost track position fairly late in the race, and we just battled hard. Its very difficult ahead up through the field here. Its very difficult to pass and could sort of battle back and obtain a high five from it, that is OK.

Logano hasn’t won the crown jewel event, having finished as high as second in the 2018 Southern 500.

“After all, youve surely got to be happy about any of it because we scored lots of points and thats what its about here in the initial round, but additionally a missed possibility to win the Southern 500 and I must say i want that certain,” he confessed. “That certain stings a bit because I believe we were much better than the cars before us if we’d the air. If we could actually stay towards leading we’re able to tune to cleaner air, rather than going in the trunk and attempting to tune to dirty air. We just set ourselves back too much.

He now leads the standings following the to begin three races in the Round of 16, but a lot more importantly, he could be 38 points free from the elimination zone.
