Malcolm Gladwell opposes WFH while he works from his couch going back twenty years

Spotlight on Gladwells WFH history

Gladwell, however, is really a longtime remote working aficionado.

In 2020, Gladwell penned an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal where he admitted he previously written in coffee shops for a full time income for a lot of my adult life.

He had told The Guardian in 2005 he started his morning writing from homebut always from his couch as he hates desks.

With this particular contradiction front and center, many took to social media marketing to criticize Gladwells seeming hypocrisy following a Friday NY Post article highlighted the Diary of a CEO podcast episode featuring the writer.

Others described the huge benefits they felt they enjoyed through being permitted to home based, with Dan Price, CEO of Gravity Paymentsthe payments firm that made headlines when it made a decision to pay most of its employees the very least salary of $70,000saying that remote work had increased fascination with the business from job hunters and contributed to both revenue and staff turnover.

A divisive topic
