THE NEWEST York Yankees reportedly aren’t a popular in the Juan Soto sweepstakes.

Brendan Kuty of NJ Advance Media reported Thursday on where in fact the Yankees stand in trade talks for the Washington Nationals’ star outfielder:

“As the Yankees stay in on Nationals star Juan Soto, they dont feel just like theyre particularly ‘engaged’ with Washington, which is apparently seeking younger established major-league players, the individual said. The Yankees could be more of a ‘fallback’ option for Soto, the individual said.”

That’s consistent with a written report from the NY Post’s Jon Heyman, who tweeted that the Yankees aren’t at the “forefront” of Soto trade discussions.

While theres no word the Yankees are officially from Juan Soto its clear they arent currently at the forefront of these talks. So that it is practical they jumped on Andrew Benintendi. SD, STL, LAD and TEX, perhaps because of better prospect matches, seem more involved with Soto talks.

Soto, 23, is really a two-time All-Star who has amassed 20 home runs and 45 RBI this season.

Soto became the latest name with this year’s trading block following the Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reported he and the Nats couldn’t arrived at terms on a long-term extension.

Hector Gomez of Z101 Digital reported the Nats planned to create one final offer to Soto but would trade him if he didn’t accept.

SOURCE: The Nationals intend to create a better offer to Juan Soto, which is their last. If Soto will not accept, he’ll be traded.

Nats general manager Mike Rizzo has since managed to get clear that Soto can be acquired, however the team won’t give him away.

“I’ll say this: We will need to get the deal that people want, which makes probably the most sense, that gets us the chance to become championship organization faster than not trading him. That’s it the bottom line is,” Rizzo said Wednesday on The Sports Junkies on 106.7 The Fan.

Soto is under team control through the 2024 season, but his time with the Nats could possibly be nearing its close.

The proper fielder will be a great fit on any team. He’s among the game’s brightest young stars and could be on his solution to Cooperstown.

It seems the NORTH PARK Padres may be the front-runner for Soto, per ESPN’s Buster Olney.

By Thursday morning, some rival executives perceive the Padres to function as frontrunner to land Juan Soto.

The Yankees need assist in the corner outfield, especially since Joey Gallo is hitting just .161, however they got some by means of Andrew Benintendi. NY traded three minor league pitchers Wednesday for the All-Star, who’s hitting .320 and won a Gold Glove this past year.

That is clearly a great consolation prize for the Yanks if Soto doesn’t land in the Bronx. As is, the 66-33 Yankees own the American League’s best record and so are primed for a playoff run. They’ll undertake Benintendi’s former team, the Kansas City Royals, for a four-game home series starting Thursday.
