Music Festival in Spain Hit With Strong Winds, Killing One and Injuring Many

Powerful winds hit a beachside music festival near Valencia, Spain early Saturday, causing a stage to partially collapse. CBS News reported the injury toll at 40, and a man in his early 20s had died.

The Medusa Festivals Circus of Madness on the Playa de Cullera on the Balearic Sea was entering its fourth of six days on Saturday when inclement weather hit in the predawn hours. Along with significant harm to the stage, reports indicated that large structures at the festival entrance blew down.

We have been completely devastated and appalled with what happened yesterday evening, festival management said in a social media marketing statement. An urgent and violent gale hit the beach soon after 4 a.m. triggering the concert promoters to immediately evacuate the concert area to guarantee the safety of the festival goers, staff and artists.

The rest of the festival has been canceled.

The festival, also called Medusa SunBeach, began in 2015, concentrating on EDM and trance music, and is well known because of its elaborate stage design. The function had not been held in 2020 or 2021.

Headliners as of this years festival include American DJ Steve Aoki, Dutch DJ Afrojack, French DJ David Guetta, Australian DJ Timmy Trumpet, and Spanish DJ Wade.

Based on the Daily Mail, DJ Miguel Serna, was on stage for a scheduled 3 a.m. set once the storm hit. It had been a tense short while, I’ve never experienced anything enjoy it before. The tragedy happened just by the end of my session on the primary stage, just underneath it, that was probably the most affected (area). It had been minutes of horror, I’m still in shock, he wrote on his Instagram Stories.
