The LA Lakers remain attempting to move Russell Westbrook, also to do this, they’ll likely have to part with a few of their future first-round draft picks, including their 2027 and 2029 selections.

Apparently, those picks are being among the most coveted in the NBA, an executive told’s Sean Deveney:

“Both Lakers picks will be the most effective thing so far as picks go in the league at this time. Everyone expects them to be top picks and when you can obtain them unprotected, everybody wants those. The Lakers only desire to quit one and today you need to be thinking, if youre the Lakers, OK, (Malik) Beasley and Bogdanovic and Jarred Vanderbilt for just one of the picks and Russ? Or, you understand, Clarkson or Conley within? Youre likely to want three of these five players, quit Westbrook and only deal off among the picks. Danny could easily get more picks if he sells those off individually but he could be not likely to progress picks, which is finished . the Lakers have being an advantage.”

It’s been known for some time that the Lakers are prepared to relinquish a minumum of one of these first-round picks in order to bolster their roster. However, Deveney wrote that the Purple and Gold “haven’t any interest in quitting both picks with out a major return.”

The Lakers have previously acquired Patrick Beverley come early july, though that move alone won’t help have them back to contention.

The franchise has been associated with Buddy Hield and Myles Turner through the entire summer, nonetheless it isn’t thinking about moving those aforementioned first-round picks to obtain the Indiana Pacers tandem, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski (h/t Arthur Hill of Hoops Rumors).

Furthermore, the Lakers have expressed fascination with Kyrie Irving, but all signs point toward the veteran point guard remaining alongside Kevin Durant with the Brooklyn Nets to begin with the 2022-23 campaign.

Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today also recently reported that the Lakers have “some interest” in Mike Conley, Jordan Clarkson and Bojan Bogdanovic of the Utah Jazz, that are reportedly available as Danny Ainge begins his rebuild after moving Rudy Gobert to the Minnesota Timberwolves and Donovan Mitchell to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

If the Lakers desire to get a serviceable player prior to the season begins, it’s clear they’ll need to surrender their coveted first-round selections. Because they get more in need of help, it could be simpler to persuade them.
