Intel has announced some new additions to its new Arc GPU portfolio made to power an easy selection of professional devices.

The brand new Intel Arc Pro A-series carries a mobile GPU for business laptops, along with single- and dual slot models for small workstations.

Each one of the new GPUs features built-in ray tracing hardware, machine learning capabilities and what Intel is calling industry-first AV1 hardware encoding acceleration.

Troubles for Intel Arc

Intels latest foray in to the GPU business offers off to a rocky start, using its first Arc cards suffering repeated delays because of the global chip shortage along with other Covid-related factors.

The business is also reported to be struggling to create its first-gen Arc GPUs up to date with current-gen models from Nvidia and AMD from the performance standpoint. It had been even rumored that Intel may need to scrap its Arc Alchemist and Battlemage lines completely, due to unfixable hardware flaws kneecapping their performance.

The business moved swiftly to dismiss these claims and promised further updates later this quarter, but reports suggest the atmosphere in the graphics division is now increasingly tense.

Even though picture doesnt look all too bright for Intel in the buyer market, its likely the business may enjoy greater success available graphics space. With Nvidia steering from GPUs for professional devices to target more closely on processors for gaming rigs and data center servers, Intel has perhaps smelled a chance.

The business says it really is targeting certifications for software spanning fields like architecture, engineering and design and the brand new Arc Pro A-series cards may also be reported to be optimized for video editing and 3D graphics software like Blender.

Intel has chosen never to share any information on the performance of the brand new GPUs at this time, but professionals working across these types of industries will undoubtedly be keeping an eager eye out for the arrival of the initial benchmarks.

Intel Arc Pro GPUs are anticipated to become available later this season, inside devices from leading mobile and desktop ecosystem partners.
