The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network has digitised its delivery of prenatal care to lessen the administrative burden on its midwives while enabling personalised support to women that are pregnant.
Pregnancy Online Platform NALHN (POPN) originated together with Personify Care, which includes powered the machine with digital pathways that deliver information specific to a woman’s stage of pregnancy. The technology also automatically captures and screens clinical data points from consumers.
WHY IT MATTERS
In accordance with a media release, POPN will be able to rapidly identify patients that are looking for additional tests or support ahead of their first appointment with a midwife. It replaces the network’s previous paper-based process which depends on making calls to triage risks for pregnant ladies at their first consult.
Since digitising their workflows, clinical staff has seen increased attendance rates, reduced waitlists for appointments, and enhanced midwifery care.
Julia Dalton, midwifery lead of the NALHN POPN project, claims that “91% of users who’ve previously given birth with NALHN consider POPN to function as same, or even easier than their previous triage experience”.
Later on, NALHN plans to expand the machine featuring Personify Care’s digital pathways to aid women for the others of these pregnancy journey. In addition they plan to digitise the workflows in other elective surgery specialities.
THE BIGGER TREND
Personify Care has supported several digital transformation initiatives across hospitals and health facilities in Australia by implementing its digital pathways. One of these, the Central Adelaide Local Health Network, could launch a surgical pre-rehabilitation programme, which helps patients become fit for surgery. Medical IT firm also delivered its technology to digitise the IMMEDIATE ACCESS Colonoscopy programme of The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, also section of CALHN.
Personify Care in addition has powered the house care programme of St John of God Murdoch Hospital in Perth. The programme has since been expanded from general surgery to specialist surgery wards.
