Now THEY NEED More: LA Times Urges Biden to Declare a ‘Climate Emergency’

Youd believe Leftists, Democrats, and the global warming crowd will be celebrating the Senate passing of the ludicrously named Inflation Reduction Act, which as weve discussed at RedState will most likely increase inflation and can fund 87,000 new IRS agents merely to hassle you.

But rather of celebrating, some are calling for more, more, more. The once-great LA Times is urging President Joe Biden to declare a climate emergency and use executive powers and regulatory shenanigans to shift from fossil fuels. Predictably, they dont say, switch to what exactly.

Remember that we have been already under a monkeypox health emergency along with an endless COVID emergency. Almost enables you to scared to obtain out of bed each morning.

As Bono sings in U2s classic, With or Without You, you give everything, but I’d like more. The LA Times editorial board agrees, writing in a Friday opinion piece:

With congressional action now looking much more likely [the Inflation Reduction Act], will Bidens promise to confront the climate crisis with presidential proclamations, executive orders and regulatory power go unfulfilled?

Lets hope not

The threat now could be so dire that people need Biden to provide on his pledge. Which means using every executive and administrative power legally open to him to safeguard Americans from climate-fueled disasters, boost renewable energy and shift from fossil fuels. And because declaring a national emergency would unlock additional tools and resources, he must do it.

Uncertain that sort of leadership was what the Founders were thinking if they wrote the Constitution. My understanding is that people had a legislative branch that has been likely to enact laws, and a president to enforce them.

Could it be just me, or does it feel just like were surviving in a banana republic? Weve got a politicized justice system that conducts dawn raids on elderly opponents of the administration for process crimes, an IRS that once targeted conservative organizations and is approximately to get a lot more funding, a pliant, one-sided press that acts as a cheerleading group for the Democrat Party, and a president who openly says if Congress doesnt enact his bills hell simply enforce his will in different ways.

Democrats and the media spent four years telling us that Donald Trump was a fascist and a dictator, but he never spoke such as this or acted even near as dictatorial as Biden has. The LA Times thinks Biden should work as if were at war:

More important compared to the symbolic power of a presidential proclamation is whether Biden uses that emergency status to marshal new resources and effect real change

A crisis declaration, for example, couldunlock additional funding for climate resilience projects by the Pentagon, which includeslong identifiedclimate change as a threat to national security. Beneath the Stafford Act, which governs disaster preparedness and relief, Biden could direct the Federal Emergency Management Agency to create climate-ready infrastructure in low-income communities of color which are hit hardest by disasters. The president might use his executive authority to accelerate renewable energy projects and manufacturing of electric vehicles and appliances, or go bolder and utilize it to revivea ban on crude oil exportsand prevent investment in fossil fuel projects abroad.

Forget earning votes at the ballot box to effect changejust issue executive orders. Theyre saying, Sure, voters dont support a Green New Deal, but go on and take action anyway.

It appears if you ask me the LA Times is openly urging the president to accomplish the exact forms of things these were so terrified of in the Trump era. Namely, disregard the Constitution, assume powers you dont have, and rule having an iron fist whatever the will of individuals. THE DAYS, like so quite a few nations newspapers, way back when lost any real credibility due to the biased reporting, but it is a new loweven for them.
