Pence endorses Kleefisch for governor, establishing another clash with Trump

By Ben Kamisar

Former Vice President Mike Pence is endorsing former Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch for governor in Wisconsin, another race where Pence is defined to not in favor of former President Donald Trump’s pick.

“Rebecca Kleefisch may be the only candidate which will deliver a stronger and much more prosperous Wisconsin, and I’m proud to aid her,Pence said in a statement that continued to call her having “a successful conservative background” and the candidate who’ll help conservatives “fight contrary to the radical left in Wisconsin.”

Kleefisch, who served as Gov. Scott Walker’s running mate, had in early stages been viewed as the frontrunner in the GOP primary to nominate an applicant to perform against Democratic Gov. Tony Evers. But businessman Tim Michels launched a late bid in April, sinking huge amount of money of their own money right into a bid and won the endorsement of Trump as he pulled right into a tight race with Kleefisch in public areas polling.

It isn’t the very first time Pence has endorsed against his former running mate they will have also backed opposing gubernatorial primary candidates in Arizona and Georgia.
