How Pete Davidson Brought His Real-Life Trauma to New Flick

Pete, 28, later turned his pain right into a passion project,writing and starring in his film The King Of Staten Island, that is a semi-autobiographical story that follows his journey ofdealing with the deathof his father.

Talking with E! News in June 2020, Pete shared he wished to take a genuine approach when telling his story.
“It’s pretty transparent when i could possibly be,”hetold E! News. “We really wished to follow this family and tragedy and how it affected them. And we wished to show the method that you could overcome tragedy through life experiences.”
Recognizing howtherapeutic The King of Staten Island was for him, Pete reflected on the filming experience, saying it helped process his emotions.
“I believe when you’re in a position to share a tale like this as of this magnitude sufficient reason for a lot of people, it certainly allowed me to be as open and honest when i could be also it helped me cope with plenty of my own demons. This is something, among the goals because of this film was to permit me to place my past behind me and I believe we could actually do this.”

That same month, Pete paid tributeto his dad during his virtual stop by at Jimmy Kimmel Live, sharing he had donated to Answer THE DECISION and explained his family’s deep link with the charity.
“Answer THE DECISION may be the fund that helped my children when my father passed,” he told hostJimmy Kimmelin June 2020.”It can help for firefighters and EMS workers that passed on in the type of duty also it helps out their own families.”
