Houston Texans rookie running back Dameon Pierce is reportedly set for a considerable workload in his first NFL season.
In accordance with NBC Sports’ Peter King, Pierce could have the chance to function as lead back Houston’s offense in 2022, which fantasy football managers should observe as they plan their drafts:
“I don’t believe RB Dameon Pierce is a top-15 back, but if he gets pushed down far enough, the Houston rookie is value. Watch just how Pierce runstough, gritty, can go out of tackles. For an evergrowing team with a questionable line like Houston, sufficient reason for a coach, Lovie Smith, who values the run hugely, Pierce will receive a chance to function as top back for a team which will have to run a whole lot.”
Texans head coach Lovie Smith was asked about Pierce’s role by reporters, but he declined to mention him the outright starter prior to the regular season.

Lovie Smith on if Dameon Pierce did enough to function as starting running back: ‘Dameon Pierce has played good ball. He’s an excellent football player. He is able to run with power, cause you to miss in open field.’ Declined to mention him starter today. Obviously, he’ll be huge section of run game
A fourth-round choose of Florida, Pierce ran for 1,806 yards and 23 touchdowns in his four-year college career. Houston also offers veteran running backs Marlon Mack and Rex Burkhead on the depth chart, nonetheless it appears like Pierce could have a workhorse role for the Texans.
Houston opens the 2022 season on Sept. 11 at NRG Stadium contrary to the Indianapolis Colts.
