Report: 65% of IT leaders are buying unstructured data analytics

Enterprises are storing more data than ever before. How much? Based on the Komprise 2022 Unstructured Data Management report, over fifty percent are managing 5 petabytes or even more of data in comparison to significantly less than 40% in 2021. Most (68%) are spending a lot more than 30% of these IT budget on data storage, backups and disaster recovery.

How are companies storing this data and what exactly are their struggles, plans and priorities for managing unstructured data?

Situation: Cloudy with the opportunity of data

Based on the report, the cloud may be the dominant storage medium. Nearly half (47%) of respondents said they’ll spend money on cloud network attached storage (NAS), accompanied by cloud object storage (43%).

Meanwhile, companies are shifting from simply driving storage efficiencies to delivering data services in the cloud, like the capability to leverage file and object data in cloud analytics tools for competitive gain: 65% of respondents said they’re buying unstructured data analytics, with the purpose of putting more power in the hands of customers.
