Sara Al Madani really wants to get before any cultural appropriation accusations.
THE TRUE Housewives of Dubai star is defending wearing an Afro wig to Lesa Milans Jamaican dancehall-themed party that aired on Wednesday nights episode, insisting that the hairstyle can be common amongst the Arab community.
I was concerned about the appearance because some individuals may not accept it due to culture. However the thing is, the Afro exists in my own culture, the truth shows sole Emirati cast member tells Page Six exclusively.
You can find black people in my own culture, you can find Emiratis which have Afros and we’ve folks of color. So for all of us, in the United Arab Emirates, it is extremely normal. But I was concerned about other people all over the world considering it in different ways.
Al Madani who paired her wig with an extended, colorfully striped dress, red heels and gold jewelry loves all cultures, she says, and thrives when encountering different styles.
Personally i think like each and every time I travel and experience a fresh culture, I look for a little bit of my soul. So I loved it. I simply loved the appearance, choosing that, she says. I had so much fun. I enjoy dance.
It must be noted that event host Milan who’s of Jamaican descent and something of three black RHODubai stars co-signed Al Madanis do, even though the ladies friendship has withered since filming wrapped.
Im actually really impressed. Everybody looks insanely good, the Mina Roe designer said in a confessional. Sara, with her big Afro, and try nobody include the cultural appropriation, OK?
She added, Jamaicas motto has gone out of several, one people. Arabs have Afros. Im out within a damn blonde wig. We have been good, OK?
Al Madani jokes that Milans kind words marked one tiny little bit of positivity among many shady remarks manufactured in confessionals this year.
She actually said something nice about me? Im shocked, the philanthropist says with fun. Was it certainly for me personally, or was it so people dont judge her because Im at her party?
THE TRUE Housewives of Dubai airs Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
