The team announced on Wednesday that it had reached an agreement with the Australian that may see him leave by the end of the season, per year sooner than planned.
Since he joined the Woking outfit in the beginning of 2021, Ricciardo has struggled to adjust to the car also to match his teammate Lando Norris, although he did have the ability to score an extraordinary win in last year’s Italian GP.
Facing the media for the very first time because the news of his departure was confirmed, Ricciardo said he previously been speaking with the team for a few months about how exactly to boost his performances before that morphed right into a discussion about his exit from the team.
“It wasn’t only a random call 1 day, and ‘Hey, this is exactly what we’re doing,’ he said.
“We have been in dialogue for actually the last couple of months. Also it wasn’t like, ‘Don’t top five this race, and you’re done.’ Nonetheless it was more, ‘What can we do?’ How do we as a collective make an effort to keep causeing this to be work?
“And obviously I tried to provide feedback, and obviously the items I would have a problem with on the automobile. And there is lots of, I assume, dialogue.
“But additionally I understood that has been also a spot of concern, as the results I was getting weren’t up to I assume the level that people all thought they might have already been.
“So we did talk, I certainly desire to say, months about any of it, and methods to try to rectify the problems.
“But also, potentially, ‘Okay, what next? What now?’. And we sort of just found unfortunately a dead end, where we felt like we’d exhausted the majority of things that were at the very least in reach at that time.
“And that is when obviously they determined.”
Expanding on his thoughts concerning the early split, he said: “It’s obviously nothing like the nicest feeling, but I look back onto it, and I could hold my head saturated in terms of applying myself and attempting to make it happen, like attempting to put everything in.
“And sometimes you merely need to accept that, okay, I tried, also it didn’t necessarily workout.

“But from that time of view, I don’t look back terms of ‘Man, I was slacking off. So in retrospect I earned this,’ or whatever.
“It’s one among those ideas. I’m pleased with just how we tried to create it happen, and persist through it. However, many things perhaps you just say that they are not designed to be.”
Ricciardo is set to keep his career in F1, and said he’d be ready to have a sabbatical in 2023 if that meant the proper opportunity would appear the next year.
“Yes, if it made sense,” he said when asked if he could have a year out. “It is the only racing I’m thinking about at this time of my career. F1 is what I really like , and it’s really where I see myself, if I’m doing any racing.
“If suppose the stars don’t align, also it doesn’t make sense next year, and when this means taking that point off to sort of reset or re-evaluate, then in the event that’s the right move to make, then I’m ready to.
“I still love the activity, and I believe through all this, I assume, call it adversity, I haven’t lost that confidence in myself. For certain, we’ve had some tough weekends. And you also can’t help but show emotion sometimes. But I still think it’s great.
“And I still wish to accomplish it competitively, I would like to take action in the in the proper place. I’ve never said I wish to you need to be a driver to create up the numbers. If I’m here, I would like to be here for an objective.
“THEREFORE I have no idea what which means yet for future years. But needless to say, if it’s the proper opportunity, then that’s where I would like to be.”
