Ronnie 2K made the remarks within an exclusive interview with Joey Linn of In the Warriors:

“I believe it is a badge of honor for all those guys. Something they definitely discuss in the locker room. Despite the fact that Klay said he hadn’t played NBA2K because the Dreamcast, the truth that he cares about his rating so much, I understand that that isn’t true. I could see his gamer tag, he plays it just plenty. But I also think him in specific, he really was upset about an 88 three-point rating.

“Nevertheless, you know very well what the funny thing is? That has been still tied for the second-highest rating. I believe that’s portion of the problem of having a teammate that’s leaps and bounds before everybody, like how can you cope with that? Steph since 2015 has made a lot more than 10% more three-pointers than other people in the league. So at some time, shouldn’t the rating be 10% greater than everyone else in the league? Just how do we cope with that? I believe he’s just kinda broke that scale.”

Thompson’s three-point rate dipped to 38.5 percent in 2021-22 for the standard season and playoffs. He caught fire sometimes through the playoffs on the way to an NBA title, though, making seven or even more three-pointers on three different occasions. He could be a 41.7 percent lifetime shooter from beyond the arc.

The five-time All-Star wasn’t the only real player who expressed his concerns with a 2K rating, as Brooklyn Nets star forward Kevin Durant believed he ought to be a 99 rather than a 96.

Aye @Ronnie2K Im gonna need a conclusion on why Im not just a 99? It has become laughable https://t.co/oySQUtcDP2

Only Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo includes a higher ranking (97).

This year’s version of NBA 2K premiered Friday. Players could have an opportunity to enhance their ratings shortly with the standard season starting Oct. 18.
