Sarah Sanders says she’s ‘cancer-free’ after thyroid surgery

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. Former White House press secretary Sarah Sanders, who’s running forgovernorin Arkansas, underwent surgery Friday for thyroid cancer.

Sanders announced she underwent the surgery following a biopsy earlier this month revealed that she had thyroid cancer.

Today, I underwent an effective surgery to eliminate my thyroid and surrounding lymph nodes and by the grace of God I’m now cancer-free, Sanders said in a statement released by her campaign. I wish to thank the Arkansas doctors and nurses for his or her world-class care, and also my children and friends for his or her love, prayers, and support.

Sanders said she looked forward to time for the campaign trail soon.

Sanders, who served as former President Donald Trumps spokeswoman until 2019, is running against Democratic nominee Chris Jones. She actually is the daughter of former Gov. Mike Huckabee.

A health care provider for Sanders said in a statement he expected her to be back on her behalf feet next 24 hours. Dr. John R. Sims said Sanders will require adjuvant treatment with radioactive iodine and continued long follow-up care.

I believe its fair to state shes now cancer free, and I dont anticipate some of this slowing her down, Sims said.
