A SC toddler accidentally shot and killed their own mother Wednesday, officials said.
The 3-year-old grabbed the unsecured gun shortly before 8 a.m. and shot his mother, Cora Lyn Bush, within their Spartanburg home, the sheriffs office said in a Facebook post.
The 33-year-old mother died two hours later at an area hospital.
The childs grandmother, who witnessed the murder, told authorities the toddler was in charge of her daughters death after gaining usage of an unsecured firearm, police said.
The Spartanburg Sherriffs Office said her account corroborated with both evidence at the scene and the problems for the victim, though a study remains active.
Officials haven’t released any more information. A forensic autopsy was scheduled for Thursday.
Please keep carefully the category of Ms. Bush in mind and prayers during this time period of loss and grief, the sheriffs office said.
