A dog deemed as “scary” has gone viral after his owner bought him his very own puppy to play with.
In a video shared on TikTok page harvey_shepinois, the Belgian Malinois and German Shepherd cross can be seen running away from Delta, the playful puppy, whilst excitedly wagging his tail with a ball in his mouth.
The video has been viewed over 1.7 million times since it was first posted on August 18.
Harvey’s owner has added text to the video stating people don’t let their dogs play with Harvey because he looks “scary.” You can view the video here:
In March 2021, a survey carried an online dog training company called Spirit Dog revealed 14.7 percent of 2,000 U.S. residents have more than one dog.
The American Belgian Malinois Club’s breed standard describes its traits as follows: “The breed is confident, exhibiting neither shyness nor aggressiveness in new situations. The dog may be reserved with strangers but is affectionate with his own people. He is naturally protective of his owner’s person and property without being overly aggressive.”
Harvey, who is a cross, may be perceived as “scary” due to his big frame but playful Delta seems unfazed as he chases the hound around their garden shed in North East England.
According to the German Shepherd Dog Club of America, “the breed has a distinct personality marked by direct and fearless, but not hostile, expression, self-confidence and a certain aloofness that does not lend itself to immediate and indiscriminate friendships.”

Dogs are inherently social animals that live well together in groups, but that does not mean that all dogs get along. So it seems Harvey’s owner has hit the jackpot as the adorable duo appear to have developed an unbreakable bond.
Over 1,000 TikTokers have commented on the joyful video and many have prompted their owner to buy another.
Others have commented on Harvey’s appearance and they think he is anything but “scary.”
One user, Callum, joked: “You’re right, that dog does look really scary—why did you just let him chase the bigger dog like that?” And Harvey’s owner answered: “Harvey will be traumatized soon.”
It seems Harvey isn’t the only dog who struggles to make friends based on his appearance as user Emily Lane Carroll wrote: “I have a Great Dane and most people don’t let their dogs play with her because of her size and it breaks my heart for her since she loves other dogs.”
