Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom Both Delayed

Warner Bros. Discovery has pushed back the release dates for just two of its big DC releases, Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

Within an updated calendar, Warner Bros. announced that the Shazam sequel will now be released on March 17, 2023, rather than December 21, 2022. This March date was originally held by Aquaman 2 that will now be pushed back again to December 25, 2023.

No reason has been given for the delay and movies like Black Adam and The Flash may actually have kept their original release dates.

Every DC Movie and Series Suffering from the Warner Bros. Discovery Merger

To ease the blow, WB has provided some era dates for a few upcoming films including Evil Dead Rise which is coming on April 21, 2023, The Nun 2 which is released on September 8, 2023, and A Christmas Story Christmas, a sequel to the vacation classic.

A Christmas Story Christmas follows a grown-up Ralphie who must cope with the holiday season again, but as a dad. This sequel is coming on November 17, 2022.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods has recently faced several delays because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The film was originally scheduled to be released on April 1, 2022, before being moved to November 2022, then December. Aquaman was also set for 2022 before being delayed to 2023.

James Wan posted on social media marketing that he’s glad the Aquaman sequel could have any occasion release just like the first one and shared concept art for the movie on his Instagram page.

Both sequels will dsicover much of the initial cast return, though Shazam 2 added new villains like Lucy Lius Kalypso and Helen Mirrens Hespera. Aquaman 2 may also include Ben Affleck reprising his role as Batman.

The DC film delays come amid several shifting factors at Warner Bros. Discovery like the surprise cancellation of Batgirl, in addition to ongoing questions on the Flash because of star Ezra Millers off-screen behavior.

At the very least Black Adam continues to be scheduled to be released on October 21, 2022.
