Solectria to optimize utility-scale string inverters for First Solar

US inverter supplier Solectria will optimize its XGI 1500 utility-scale string inverters for use with First Solars cadmium telluride solar power panels.

Yaskawa Solectria Solar, mostly of the US-based manufacturers of solar inverters, has formed a partnership with First Solar. Both sides will work to optimize the Solectria XGI 1500-250 utility-scale string inverters for First Solars thin film cadmium telluride solar modules.

The purpose of the partnership would be to develop a version of the brand new XGI 1500-250 utility-scale string inverter which allows a grounded DC input, and thereby ensures optimal integration with First Solars Series 6 and Series 7 modules.

We expect that Solectrias new inverter design in conjunction with First Solars module technology can help asset owners and operators further improve the LCOE of these solar installations, said Alex Kamerer, manager of product management for First Solar.

First Solar said its modules are lower-carbon alternatives to traditional crystalline silicon panels. The business also offers a robust end-of-life and recycling program it developed in-house.

The partnership might prove appealing to developers that are looking to take full advantage of the incentives within the united states Inflation Reduction Act. As well as the 30% investment tax credit, there exists a 10% credit adder for projects that use domestically produced hardware. To be eligible for the 10% credit adder, 100% of steel and iron should be manufactured in america.
