WASHINGTON, September 8, 2022 – Today’s release of the 2022 Public Charge Final Rule by the Biden-Harris Administration and Department of Homeland Security represents a significant step towards ensuring those who are qualified to receive USDAs nutrition assistance programs can access their crucial benefits. The rule clarifies and formalizes the policy thats experienced place for some of the final 2 decades, definitively allowing eligible immigrants to use for and receive non-cash government benefits like SNAP, WIC, and free or reduced-price school meals without concern with any negative effect on their immigration status. Immigrants and their own families have the proper to gain access to the programs that Congress has made them eligible.
