Cameron Heyward takes offense to Ben Roethlisbergers comments about young NFL stars

It looks as if we are considered selfish players, and I dont think thats the idea, Heyward said, h/t the brand new York Post. We’ve plenty of young players which come from differing backgrounds, have experienced various things from what others or I might have observed. That doesnt make sure they are selfish or even more of a me-type attitude. There are plenty more team-first guys than me-type attitude. I took offense compared to that.

Heyward clarifies he is not seeking Roethlisberger, whom was hit teammate for over 10 years, for his statement. Rather, he could be defending his teammates and showing everyone that the team cares about football on the field.

For all those wondering what Roethlisbergers full comments were, this is what these were, h/t the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:

Personally i think just like the game has changed. Personally i think like the folks have changed in a way. Maybe its because I acquired spoiled when I came in. The team was so important. It had been about the team. Now, its about me which, that and another.

I would be sitting on a soapbox a bit, but thats my biggest takeaway from when I began to the finish. It turned from the team-first to a me-type attitude. It had been hard. Its hard for these young guys, too. Social media marketing. Theyre treated so well in college. Now, this new NIL stuff, that is unbelievable. Theyre treated so special. Theyre coddled at a age because college coaches need them to win, too.I understand coach [Terry] Hoeppner never coddled me [at Miami of Ohio]. Neither did [Bill] Cowher.

This weren’t the only real newsworthy thing Roethlisberger said in his interview. He also asserted that Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert was prepared to move ahead from him earlier.

The Steelers won’t have Roethlisberger in camp because the QB1 on the depth chart. The Steelers signed former Chicago Bears and Buffalo Bills quarterback Mitchell Trubisky in free agency and used their first-round pick in this years NFL Draft on Pittsburgh Panthers signal caller Kenny Pickett.
