Texas Border Sector Chief Warns of Increasing Danger in River Area Where 9 Drowned This Week

The principle patrol agent of the Del Rio Sector warned of increasing dangers across the Rio Grande near Eagle Pass. Rains in your community are increasing the currents in a portion of the border river where nine migrants drowned this week within a crossing incident.

It is a warning of extreme importance; the currents of the Rio Grande have grown to be more dangerous because of recent and continuing rainfall and much more rain is forecasted for the coming week. Chief Patrol Agent Jason D. Owens said in a statement provided to Breitbart Texas. Despite these unfortunate circumstances, U.S. Border Patrol, Del Rio Sector continues to come across large sets of a lot more than 100+, 200+ wanting to cross the Rio Grande daily.

Up to now, at the very least nine people have died during the last couple of days wanting to cross this area, Owens added. In order to prevent further lack of life, we have been asking everyone to please avoid crossing illegally.

Chief Owens referenced an incident from Thursday in which a group of a lot more than 50 migrants crossed in one crossing. Breitbart Texas first reported that migrants from that group reported that lots of were swept away by the currents.

By Thursday afternoon, agents found four migrants dead in the river. By Saturday morning, that number grew to nine dead.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials also published Chief Owens statement in Spanish:

Regardless of the increasing dangers of the swiftly moving currents of the Rio Grande, several 362 migrants crossed the river within a group on Saturday morning, Breitbart Texas reported.

The nearly 400 migrants crossed in nearly exactly the same area where this weeks drownings occurred.

A lot more than 52,000 migrants crossed the Rio Grande in to the Del Rio Sector in August rendering it the busiest sector in the country for the next month in a row, Breitbart reported.
