This CEO Brings His Dad to utilize Him WEEKLY. He Says It’s Made Him an improved Businessman

As a youngster, AndrewBarrocas always dreamed that he’d use his dad on the household business, a garment manufacturing company in NEW YORKcalled Mona Slide Fasteners. Instead, he finished up bringing his dad, Joel Barrocas, to utilize him.

Along with runningMona Slide Fasteners–the business named for his mother-in-law he took over in 1971–Joel launched another manufacturing business in 1985, Menu Solutions. He sold the business, which mademenu covers for restaurants before the pandemic in 2020.

Joel also were able to grow his father-in-law’sbusiness from two employees to an employee of 400 during his nearly five decades as steward. Eventually, Joel says hesaw a growing number of apparel manufacturing move overseas, so he sold the business enterprise in 2020.

With nothing tethering him to entrepreneurship anymore, Joel began to get restless. However, not for long. His son, Andrew–who at that time had founded their own property business–proved to be his ticket back the overall game.

Andrew, who has two siblings, was naturally inclined to business as a kid, Joel says. At age 12, he ran a snow removal business, utilizing an ATV having an attached snow plow to shovel driveways as quickly as possible–and eventually taken in more than$1,000 each day. At 16, he made more than$50,000 one summer driving an excellent Humor ice cream truck. “My dad never said noto me about anything–whether I needed season tickets to the Mets, to a Ferrari, to a good houseand a pool,” Andrew says. “His one rule was that I had to cover it myself.” Therefore,he became a salesman.

Joel insisted that Andrew get work experience by himself before joining the household business–but once Andrew stepped in to the world of property after college, he didn’t look back. When Andrewstarted their own business in 2004, Joel helped him train his employees, but stayed centered on his just work at Mona Slide Fasteners and Menu Solutions. Once Joel retired, though, he was absolve to trade.

“My father has coached me through everything my very existence,” Andrew says. “He’s never given me money for just about any of my businesses, but he’s given me his time–and that’s a lot more valuable.”

Andrew and Joel compare their relationship compared to that ofbasketball legend JORDAN and his coach, Philip Jackson. “He challenges me to handle things that I don’t desire to discuss,” Andrew says. “We talk through potential solutions and strategize.” Their Thursday drives in to the office, he says, certainly are a “mental workout,” which frequently bring about him creating a change to his business.
